What I have personally discovered is I am most happy and successful when I don't skip my green juices and I am continuously eating throughout the day. This aids with temptation because I never allow myself to be "starving" however I do not binge. I also have the most energy for my workouts this way.

Happy hump day.

Catch-up

It's so exciting to be into my second week of my journey. A definite lag in logging my food intake and exercise regimen on here in the last week. It's actually exactly one week ago that I posted and I feel it's sort of perfect. I'll abbreviate or make a short story of this past week and all the highs and lows.
I'll start with Friday and my downfall THAT night. Friday night while cooking dinner I consumed 4 shots of whiskey (Laughing with tears face) YES this was after my lovely Xtend and stretch class @ Barre by the Sea. What I ate was not terrible which is the brighter side. I had a nice small portion of whole grain pasta noodles with 1/2 cup red tomato pasta sauce. Along with steamed veggies.
The disappointment lies in the fact that alcohol isn't just like poison to your body and your gut, but it also slows the metabolism tremendously! That is working against myself because all week I spent time trying to BOOST my metabolism. Hard weeks SUCK ASS sometimes which drives me to wanting to unwind with alcohol. How was I to combat this later on in the week? Every time I thought I wanted alcohol to "unwind" I made a hot cup of chamomile tea with lemon instead. It really does relax you. ALSO it speeds up the metabolism, naturally!
Saturday I did NOT go to barre in the morning, I went to work instead. A must. Saturday's eating looked like this:

Breakfast: Green juice
Lunch: Veggie humus wrap (traderjoes)
Snack: Turkey corn dog (not the best choice)
Dinner: Homemade turkey tacos with organic re fried beans YUM

Beverages throughout the day included water, tea & one Modelo beer with dinner

Sunday was awesome! I got back to barre for the 9:45 AM class. It was fantastic. I had half of a Lara bar prior to working out. Only half of one of those babies get me through my ENTIRE workout of 55 min. Less is MORE. I ate the other half on my drive home.

Lunch: Lettuce wrapped vegetarian boca paddy w/ red onion, cucumber tiny bit of ketchup/mustard for flavor. Along with half an apple.

Dinner Left over tacos, followed by two completely intentional shots of vodka HA!

And on the 3rd Day..

Banana & Berry Smoothie with Vanilla Protein YUM!

It's 3:11 on Wednesday day THREE. The day isn't near over but I thought I'd write early. I'm excited today because I'm really starting to feel the benefits of this little modified cleanse. This morning I woke up with an interesting amount of energy. Almost like a zing..and nope hadn't had any caffeine at this point! Which is amazing. I really hate feeling reliant on caffeine for my energy in the morning. It's even more tough for me to stay away from coffee because I love the taste! I'm trying to treat coffee and alcohol as "treats" and or desserts. This week so far so good.

To add to my morning encouragement, when I stepped on the scale I was down 1.6 lbs from yesterday. I don't plan on jumping on the scale this often always. However I'm using it as a motivational tool to keep me going in the beginning. Annnnd it's  working! It's true the first 10 pounds will shed so quickly and the harder weight to shed will be the latter!

This "Hump Day" has definitely been a positive one and I'm excited to continue. Since I am avoiding solid foods for the most part these next 8 days, I treated myself to a nice berry smoothie from my local juice bar Tropical Juices. This time WITH protein as I am going to a barre class at 5:30 and will need it to power we through. At this point in the afternoon I don't feel hungry and even better not GROUCHY. I plan on post workout green juice, once I get home if I'm snacky some sauteed veggies and vegetable broth along with bedtime organic chamomile tea and my aloe vera shot. DELICIOUS.

Below I will bullet point my eats today thus far..
  • 7AM Hot green tea
  • 8:30AM Green juice
  • 10:40AM Green Juice
  • 12:50PM Unsalted vegetable broth/stock
  • 2:00PM Smoothie as seen in picture

Terrible 2.

It's day 2 and today has definitely been a struggle, staying on the green juice train.
I'm still very proud of myself and the day isn't yet over.
I woke up around 6AM again, took my regular supplement that I do on an empty stomach.
  • Probiotic
  • Cranberry supplement
  • Birthcontrol (justkidding that's not a supplement it's poison)
Here's my generic morning/afternoon

7:20AM Green Juice (Berry Antioxidant)
9:30AM Green Juice (Super Greens)
11:40AM -1:45.... 3 cups of herbal tea from trader joe's and one hot cup of water with lemon.

2PM Fresh green juice from local juice bar LARGE 24oz I was STARVING and very grouchy at this point.

  • Enzyme supplement
  • Omega 3 Fatty Acids supplement
I sipped the 24oz green juice over the course of 2 hours. IT KEPT ME SANE.

I was so irritable by 4:30PM I left work early.

This is where I stand UNDER prepared which is a lesson for the following days to come.
I have an exam in less than two hours, I'm starving, I know another juice is not going to cut it.
I rationalized that I needed to study at starbucks ANYWAY so I'll grab a soy vanilla late and a "healthy snack from their cold section". ..

Which brings me to my confession. I odered a tall soy vanilla late which I'm not too worried about. I'm more disappointed that I was ill prepared and didn't have any healthy snacks to grab. I made the better of bad choice I FEEL. What I grabbed was a

Thai Style Peanut Chicken Wrap 450 calories 11g protein 4g Fiber

What they don't broadcast on the FRONT of the package is all the sodium, saturated fats, sugars, and cholesterol.  DONT really need all that shit that keeps it nice and PRESERVED in their cold box.
Again, I'm not going to beat myself up completely it's not like I ate a cheeseburger and fries. But still. Day 2 downfall.

When I leave here I plan on drinking a TON of water to flush out the salt.
Once I get home after class and I'm feeling hungry, I should be in the safe zone with healthy and fresh choices. So I'll dare PRE POST the rest of my evening.

Bedtime

  • Multi Vitamin
  • 1oz aloe vera shot
chamomile tea with lemon

Toodles.

Day One.

Today marks my first day back to healthy choices and healthy eats! Which leads me to my first blog entry. The purpose is maily so I can look back at my journey and remember the hard days, the easier days and reflect on what contributed to it all. Also for me to keep track of my meals/recipe ideas and see the effects of my nutrition on my overall health and balance. If someone else is encouraged along the way, even better.

Day 1: Monday November 2nd

Woke up at 6:10AM

7:00AM Probiotic, cranberry supplement & Trader Joes green tea with lemon.

8:45AM In The Raw super green food powder with 8oz water
9:00AM hot green tea with lemon

11:45 Super green food powder with 8oz water
12:00 hot water with lemon

1:45 fresh green juice from local juice bar 16oz

Water throughout day.

6:30PM sautéed fresh veggies with two tablespoons of virgin olive oil. Seasoned with salt free Mrs. Dash, pepper and pinch of table salt
Green bell peppers
Mushrooms
Yellow squash
Green squash
Tomatoes
Carrots

Enzyme with small glass of water.

8:00PM multi vitamin, shot of liquid aloe vera hot chamomile tea.

What I noticed about today is, I was "starving" at about 9AM. Supposed to drink first juice/mix of the day within an hour of waking up. The next time I felt so hungry was around 1. Drinking tea or hot lemon water would make my hunger cease temporarily. This way I could make sure I was actually "hungry" and not just thristy. At no point was today unbearable. The vegetables for dinner tasted as good as a cheese burger-probably because I was so excited to chew something. I feel light, less bloated and extremely hydrated.

I didn't perform any physical activity today. I weighed in this morning on an empty stomach at 170 lbs.
